About this seminar

Specialist Training for Armed Police Officers – delivered by the IPA Defensive Tactics Group (IPA-DTG) in collaboration with Explosive Self-Defense Systems (ESDS).

This specialist course is designed for authorised armed police officers who may be required to use a firearm in dynamic, high-stress, threat-to-life situations. It complements established marksmanship training by focusing on operational challenges that cannot be fully replicated during standard range qualification.

Through theory and practical exercises, participants explore instinctive shooting, decision-making under pressure, movement and the effective use of cover. The course examines how stress can affect perception, coordination and firearm handling, helping officers respond more confidently in rapidly evolving encounters.

By the end of the course, participants will have developed a better understanding of how point shooting can complement their existing firearms skills and improve their preparedness to protect themselves, their colleagues and the public.

Training is conducted with high-quality Umarex Glock training systems, comparable to Simunition platforms. They allow officers to practise instinctive shooting methods and realistic force-on-force scenarios without the cost and restrictions of live-fire ranges, while maintaining a high level of safety.

This is not a range safety or competition shooting course.
