About this seminar

Frontline police officers may face violent encounters that require rapid assessment, sound decisions and effective action under extreme pressure. Combining the theory of human conflict with reality-based training, this seminar explores the physical, psychological and tactical challenges of such situations.

Topics include human behaviour under stress, open-hand striking techniques, defence against edged-weapon attacks, unarmed responses to active-shooter incidents and combat point shooting. Presentations and discussions are complemented by demonstrations and practical exercises.

The seminar also provides an opportunity to reflect on police use of force, exchange operational experience and consider potential improvements in practice. Its aim is to strengthen participants’ situational awareness, decision-making and confidence in high-risk encounters.

The programme is intended for frontline police officers and other law enforcement professionals. Participation in all physical exercises is voluntary; delegates may also observe and contribute to the discussions.

Target group

The seminar is aimed at frontline police officers and other law enforcement professionals who may encounter violence or active threats during operational duties. It is particularly relevant for patrol and response officers, public-order and intervention units, criminal investigators, dog handlers, personal-protection officers and first responders to active-shooter or other high-risk incidents. Operational and use-of-force instructors, firearms trainers, tactical advisers and police commanders may also benefit.

Requirements

No specialist tactical background is required. Participation in physical exercises is voluntary, and delegates may instead observe the demonstrations and contribute to discussions and professional exchange.
